The Israeli–Palestinian conflict is an ongoing military and political conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. It is one of the world's longest-running conflicts, and has been fought over a variety of issues, including territory, religion, and nationalism.

The conflict has its roots in the late 19th century, when the Zionist movement began advocating for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Palestine was then part of the Ottoman Empire, and was inhabited by a majority Arab population.

In 1917, the British government issued the Balfour Declaration, which expressed support for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. After the First World War, the Ottoman Empire was dissolved and Palestine became a British Mandate.

During the British Mandate, the Jewish population in Palestine increased significantly. This led to tensions between the Jewish and Arab populations, and culminated in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.

After the war, Israel was established as a state, and the Palestinian population was displaced. The Palestinians have been seeking to establish their own state for decades, but have been met with resistance from Israel.

The conflict has been marked by violence on both sides. There have been numerous wars, terrorist attacks, and civilian casualties.

In 2023, there was a major escalation of the conflict. Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, fired hundreds of rockets at Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes on Gaza. The conflict lasted for 11 days and resulted in the deaths of over 250 people, the majority of whom were Palestinians.

The Israeli–Palestinian conflict is a complex and difficult issue. There is no easy solution, and both sides have legitimate grievances. However, it is important to remember that the conflict has had a devastating impact on the lives of millions of people. It is time for a lasting peace agreement that will allow both Israelis and Palestinians to live in security and dignity.
